Importing Visa transactions

Continia supports automatically importing Visa transactions directly into Continia Expense Management. Depending on your situation, choose the option that suits you best:

  • Directly from Visa - (for Visa Corporate cards) the recommended option
  • From your bank – this option is for other card types or if direct import from Visa isn't supported

To learn more about each option and what's required to get the automatic import up and running, see the relevant sections below.

Import transactions directly from Visa

If your company uses Visa Corporate cards, then you can have your card transactions imported directly into Expense Management straight from Visa.

To set up imports directly from Visa:

  1. Reach out to your banking relationship manager to set up a transaction feed to Expense Management.
  2. (Optional) Forward the Visa feed setup guide to your banking relationship manager as this will help them with the process.

Import transactions from your bank

If it isn't possible to import transactions directly from Visa, or if your organization uses other card types than Visa Corporate cards, then you need to use this option.

Expense Management can import card transactions from your bank, provided that the bank can send transactions to Expense Management. Most banks can, however some have technical setups that can sometimes pose certain challenges.

To set up imports from your bank, contact your bank:

  1. Contact your bank and tell them that an an import agreement must be made with them so Visa transactions can be imported from the bank into Expense Management. When this agreement is in place, Visa transactions automatically import into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on a daily basis.
  2. (Optional) If you encounter any problems, or are unsure about the process, then ask the bank to reach out to your Continia partner (who will then work with Continia to find the best possible solution for your organization).

Transactions are exchanged between your bank and Continia via SFTP, which is a very widely used network protocol to transfer files between clients and servers.
