Applying merge rules automatically
You can merge lines automatically or manually. To apply a merge rule automatically, you assign it to a search rule. The search rule identifies the bank statement lines to merge, and the merge rule defines how to combine them.
To automatically merge lines using merge rules linked to search rules, you must enable merge rules on the Banking Import Setup page.
To apply a merge rule automatically by assigning it to a search rule:
Search (
) for and select Search Rules.Select the relevant rule and in the Merge Rule Code field, select the rule you want to assign. See Setting up merge rules for instructions how to add a merge rule.
Run automatic matching to apply the changes. For example, if in the Bank Account Reconciliation, the search rule with the merge rule attached found statement lines, the lines will be merged and information about the merge will be added.

In the Bank Statement Lines section, navigate to the line that is matched by a search rule and in the Merged Lines column, click the number to see the details.
Click the merged line in the Status column to open the Payment Application Review page. On this page you can now find the Match Details that provides information on the merged lines.
