Handling payment batches in CAMT.054 files

A payment batch is several payments that the bank booked as one amount on the bank statement. A CAMT.054 file can contain one or more payment batches. Continia Banking imports all transactions in a payment batch individually. To handle the transactions as payment batches during reconciliation and posting, you can post each payment batch as a sum in the Payment Reconciliation Journal, or merge the lines of each payment batch in the Bank Acc. Reconciliation.

Hinweis

You must enable this feature on the Continia Feature Management page. While the feature is turned off, nothing changes and the new option is hidden. Disabling the feature turns the option off.

Payment batch information on imported lines

During import, Continia Banking fills the Payment Batch No. field on each line, so lines in the same payment batch get the same number. Continia Banking adds the batch number during the conversion to all transactions in the payment batch. It doesn't come directly from the ISO file.

The Bank Transaction Lines page has the following columns for payment batches:

  • Payment Batch No.
  • The number of lines in the same payment batch
  • Payment Batch Amount
  • Payment Batch Currency

The Payment Batch No. field is also available on the Bank Acc. Reconciliation lines and in the Payment Reconciliation Journal. To see these columns, on the action bar, click Page > Show More Columns.

To post payment batches as sums in the Payment Reconciliation Journal

When you enable Post Sum per Payment Batch, posting the journal creates one bank account entry per payment batch and posting date instead of one per line. Lines belong to the same payment batch when they have the same Bank Transaction No. and Payment Batch No.

The following applies:

  • Lines that aren't part of a payment batch are posted as usual.
  • A payment batch whose amounts add up to zero is posted as usual.
  • All entries get the same document number.
  • The bank account entry uses the dimensions of the first line of the payment batch.
  • Rounding differences can occur when posting in foreign currencies.

Hinweis

You can't use Post Sum per Payment Batch together with Post Sum per Posting Date. When you enable one, the other is turned off.

To post payment batches as sums:

  1. Search () for and select Banking Import Setup.
  2. Enable Post Sum per Payment Batch. Alternatively, enable the option in the payment reconciliation posting options dialog.
  3. In the Payment Reconciliation Journal, preview the posting to see how the payment batches are posted. The journal itself doesn't show the sums, because they're created during posting.
  4. Post the journal with the Post Payments action. The posting on the bank account follows the payment batches in the file.

Wichtig

If Document No. Assignment on the related bank account is set to Per Line, you can't post sums per payment batch in the Payment Reconciliation Journal. Posting the journal results in an error.

To merge payment batches in the Bank Account Reconciliation

In the Bank Acc. Reconciliation, there's no posting option for payment batches. Instead, you merge the lines of a payment batch into one line by applying a merge rule that uses the Payment Batch No. field. You must merge the lines manually.

To create the merge rule:

  1. Search () for and select Merge Rules.
  2. Click New.
  3. On the General FastTab, enter a code and a description for the merge rule.
  4. On the Merging FastTab, in the Merge by field, select Table Field.
  5. In the Merge by Table field, select Bank Acc. Reconciliation Line.
  6. In the Merge by Field field, select Payment Batch No.

To merge the lines of a payment batch:

  1. On the Bank Acc. Reconciliation page, select the statement lines.
  2. On the action bar, click Rules > Apply Merge Rule.
  3. In the Apply Merge Rule dialog box, select the merge rule, and then click OK.

Continia Banking merges the lines based on the Payment Batch No. field.
