Onboarding J.P. Morgan
As a J.P. Morgan customer, you can use Continia Banking to send payments and retrieve bank statements and payment status files directly between J.P. Morgan and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The connection uses SFTP with public-key authentication. The Continia Banking setup wizard guides you through uploading keys and configuring the SFTP connection details.
Important
Direct communication with J.P. Morgan requires Continia Banking version 29 or later.
Note
Before you start, enable J.P. Morgan Direct Communication on the Continia Feature Management page. Contact Continia Software for the feature password.
To prepare for direct communication
Before you begin, gather the following information from J.P. Morgan:
- SFTP host address
- Port number
- User ID
- SFTP password
- Inbound directory (for bank statements and payment status files)
- Outbound directory (for payment files)
You must also generate:
- An SSH public key, which J.P. Morgan uses to authenticate the SFTP connection.
- A PGP public key, which J.P. Morgan uses to encrypt files exchanged through the connection.
These keys are typically generated as part of the J.P. Morgan onboarding process. For more information, see the J.P. Morgan Client Resource Center.
To set up direct communication
Note
Before you start, enable J.P. Morgan Direct Communication on the Continia Feature Management page. Contact Continia Software for the feature password.
After you have your J.P. Morgan SFTP credentials, directory paths, and public keys, run the setup wizard in Continia Banking.
- Search () for and select Bank Account Setup.
- Click Next to start the assisted setup.
- On the Bank Accounts step, select the bank account you want to connect to J.P. Morgan. If your bank account is not listed, create a new one by selecting New Bank Account.
- On the Choose communication method step, go to the Communication Type field and select Direct, then click Next.
- On the Choose bank system step, go to the Bank System field, select the J.P. Morgan bank system, and click Next.
- On the Create Keys step, fill in the following fields:
- Host - enter the SFTP server address or hostname provided by J.P. Morgan.
- Port - enter the port number for the SFTP connection.
- User ID - enter the SFTP username from your J.P. Morgan agreement.
- SFTP Password - enter the SFTP password from your J.P. Morgan agreement.
- Inbound Directory - enter the folder path where J.P. Morgan places incoming files (bank statements and payment status reports).
- Outbound Directory - enter the folder path where Continia Banking places outgoing payment files.
- SSH Public Key - paste your SSH public key. J.P. Morgan uses this key to authenticate the SFTP session.
- PGP Public Key - paste your PGP public key. J.P. Morgan uses this key to encrypt files exchanged over the connection.
- Click Next. Continia Banking uploads your public keys to J.P. Morgan and then submits the SFTP connection details. The authentication process runs in two sequential steps: your public SSH and PGP keys are first registered with J.P. Morgan, and the SFTP connection details are then submitted. If either step fails, an error message is displayed. If you receive an error message, verify your entries and click Next to retry.
- Follow the remaining wizard steps to complete the setup.
After completing the wizard, the bank account status is set to Ready, and J.P. Morgan direct communication is active. You can now send payments from the payment journal and import bank statements and payment status files automatically.
To restore the connection
To restore the connection:
- Delete the existing authentication entry. This also removes the stored SFTP connection details from the bank account, including the host address, port, username, and inbound and outbound directories.
- Run the Bank Account Setup wizard again to enter the new credentials and re-establish the connection.
You cannot run the Bank Account Setup wizard on a bank account with the status Ready. Delete the existing authentication entry before you run the wizard again.
