About Norwegian Per Diems
Per diem rates are given to employees to cover expenses such as meal allowances, transport, accommodation, and other expenses during travel for work. In Norway, employers can give per diems to employees who are on business trips that are 15 km or more from their home and last more than six hours.
The Ministry of Local Government and District Affairs publishes the state per diem rates for Norway, and the maximum tax-free amounts for per diem allowances are published by the Norwegian Tax Administration. Employers can choose to either reimburse their employees expenses based on their own employee- employer agreement or based on Norway's state per diem rates.
The set up for Norwegian per diem rules, such as multiple accommodation types and multiple destinations are supported in Expense Management, making per diem expenses under Norwegian rules easy and quick to process for expense users, approvers, and admins.
