Overview of the Continia File Service
The Continia File Service allows you to continue using local storage paths in OPplus while ensuring compliance with Microsoft's Business Central Universal Code Initiative. The Continia File Service is designed for On Premise installation. For SaaS installations, use the Azure Blob Storage option.
This service replaces legacy file handling methods in On-Premises installations that were not compatible with Universal Code. In contrast, the Continia File Service is fully optimized for Universal Code. It functions as a web service intermediary, bridging Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with your file system. The web service facilitates file loading and saving within predefined repositories—self-contained units linked to a specific folder accessible to the user running the Continia File Service. These folders can be either local or shared, offering flexibility to meet diverse storage needs.
To prevent unauthorized access, each repository is secured by its own unique name and authorization key. You specify both the name and the authorization key freely as part of the configuration process.
To set up the Continia File Service, you must carry out the following actions in the order specified:
- Install the Continia File Service.
- Configure the Continia File Service.
- Set up the Continia File Service in Business Central.
