Adding translations to G/L accounts

For each G/L account in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, you can translate its descriptive name into multiple languages and have these translations displayed for users who speak different languages. Once you've added one or more translations, the users automatically see the G/L account names displayed in their preferred system language on the following pages in Business Central:

  • Chart of Accounts
  • G/L Account Card
  • General Journals
  • Various purchase documents
  • Various sales documents

To add or edit G/L account translations

To add or edit one or more translations of a G/L account name in the chart of accounts, follow these steps:

  1. Search Search for and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Go to the account that you want to add translations for. In the Translated Name column, click the displayed dash or text to open the G/L Accounts Translated Names page.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To add a translation: In the action bar, click New. In the line that's added, select a code under Language Code and enter a corresponding translation under Name.
    • To edit a translation: In the action bar, click Edit List, and then make any necessary changes.
  4. Repeat step 3 above for any additional translations you want to add or edit.

Alternatively, you can add or edit G/L account translations from the G/L Account Card. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Open a G/L Account Card, for example from the chart of accounts: On the Chart of Accounts page, in the No. column, click the number of the account you want to add or edit translations for.
  2. On the Continia Finance FastTab, under Essential, click the Translated Name field to open the G/L Accounts Translated Names page.
  3. Add or edit translations as needed, as described in steps 3-4 above.

Your added or edited translations are now displayed in the Chart of Accounts and the G/L Account Card and on a number of other relevant pages.

Note

Only translations in the individual user's system language are displayed on these pages, but you can always view all translations by opening the G/L Accounts Translated Names page as described above.
