Running the Document Output Service using ServiceGUI

If you prefer not to run the Continia Document Output Service as a background Windows service, you can use the ServiceGUI application instead. As opposed to the Windows service method, the ServiceGUI application features a user interface, and it doesn’t require the user to have the Log on as a service permission.

Important

Don’t run the ServiceGUI application together with the Windows service, as this may cause unexpected behavior (such as two applications trying to register on the same port or pulling jobs from the queue).

Tip

Although ServiceGUI.exe is run as a separate application, you must still use the Service Manager to configure the service.

To run the service using ServiceGUI

In order to run the Document Output Service using ServiceGUI, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the folder you chose during the installation of the Document Output Service.

    Note

The default folder for the installed files is C:\Program Files\Continia\Continia Document Output Service.

  2. Open the ServiceGUI application (ServiceGUI.exe).
  3. The application is run as a hidden program, represented by a green and white CDO Service icon in your taskbar. Double-click this icon to open the ServiceGUI user interface.
  4. Optional: On the General tab, in the Settings section, select Start this program with Windows if you want the ServiceGUI application to open automatically whenever Windows starts.

Your settings have now been applied, and the Document Output Service is running using the ServiceGUI application.
