Overview of the Document Output Security module
The Continia Document Output Security module centralizes and enhances the protection of distributed documents by gathering all current and future security features in one convenient place. With the addition of a distinct Security module, a new modular architecture is introduced for Document Output, providing better scalability and improved license management.
To support this architecture, some existing functionality has been moved from the Essentials module to the new Security module. In addition to the benefits mentioned above, this change helps streamline feature management and ensures that your organization enjoys continuous access to the latest features within digital document protection – including eSeal certification – through the Security module.
The Security module currently includes the following features:
- Password protection (existing functionality): Secure PDFs with user-defined passwords.
- PDF signing (existing functionality): Digitally sign PDFs to confirm authenticity.
- eSeal certification (new functionality): Have eIDAS-compliant eSeals automatically applied to PDF documents to ensure that they're authentic and legally valid, and that their integrity is thoroughly protected.
Note
The eSeal certification feature meets regulatory requirements in Belgium and France for certain use cases. Users in other countries can also benefit significantly from using it though.
Additional security features are likely to be added to the module at a later stage, so stay tuned.
