Working with an Emission Factor set

Continia Sustainability includes pre-installed emission factor databases, sourced from government and international official sources. These databases, which include factors commonly used in national emissions inventories, encompass both widely used global data and country-specific information.

To view a default emission factor set:

  1. Use the Search icon, search for Emission Factor Sets, and select the related link.
  2. Select an emission factor set to learn more about its setup, values, and sources. For example, select Defra.
  3. On the Emission Factor Card, you can see the different categories that are available in this emission factor set. In the No. of Emission Items field, select the number to view the emission items available for that specific emission category.
  4. On the Emission Items (Emission Factor Set) page, you can see the different items in the emission category. For example, for the category Fuel, you can distinguish between diesel, petrol, marine oil, propane, and so on, helping you increase the precision of your calculations. Select the Detailed Emission Factors icon, to see the actual numbers and unit codes available.
  5. In the No. of Factors field, select the number to view the actual numbers that compose the emissions for the specific emission item. For example, when examining a fuel, you can both access the primary activity emission rate linked with the use of the fuel and the upstream emission rate for the well-to-tank activity, providing a more nuanced understanding of emissions and better coverage of the carbon footprint.
