Creating an Emission Factor Set

This article focuses on the capability within Continia Sustainability to create custom emission factor sets. While the platform comes with pre-installed emission factor databases sourced from trusted government and international organizations, you can also define your own. This can be convenient, for example, when a supplier or vendor provides specific emission values for their products.

To create a new emission factor set:

  1. Use the Search icon, enter Emission Factor Sets, and select the related link.
  2. From the action bar, select New.
  3. On the Emission Factor Set card, fill in all required information, including Name, Description, URL, and Version No.
  4. For each row, start creating the necessary Categories.
  5. Select the No. of Emission Items, to specify the different items for each category. Select the Is Electricity checkbox if the item is related to electricity.
  6. Select No. of Factors again to specify various emission factors for the same item, such as when expressed using different units of measurement.
  7. From the action bar, select Detailed Emission Factors. In this section, you can specify the activity associated with the emission factor, which is crucial when dealing with fuels.
  8. Finally, select View from the action bar. In this last section, you can specify the emission factor values broken down by the six Kyoto Protocol gases, the corresponding Assessment Report number, and the relevant sources.
