Managing Data in Continia Sustainability
Continia Sustainability provides you with the flexibility to collect and work with carbon accounting data based on your preferences. For example, you can opt to create individual journals for each emission source or use a general journal, such as a G/L journal. Continia Sustainability lets you personalize the way you handle your environmental data, and there are three primary methods to choose from:
Integration with G/L Accounts and Item - you can link specific G/L Account cards and Item cards to an environmental account type and account number, streamlining the association between financial transactions and emission factors. This integration enables the automatic population of environmental data fields during invoice creation, requiring only minimal additional metrics input from the user. Refer to the Connecting Emission Data to G/L Accounts article, for more information. The user can also directly fill this information when registering an invoice.
Data Sources - you can specify the data source within the Data Source FastTab of relevant Environmental Account cards, selecting accounts such as G/L Entry, Item Ledger Entry, Purch.Inv. Line, or Purch.Cr.Memo Line to extract information from. Refer to the Setting up Environmental Data Sources article, for more information.
Manual Reporting - you can report relevant emissions information directly within general or specific journals by selecting the appropriate environmental account and emission type and providing the corresponding metric matching the previously defined emission factor. Refer to the Entering Emission Data in Environmental Journals Directly article for more information.
For maximum automation and accuracy, we recommend utilizing options 1 or 2. These options facilitate directly importing relevant data into the journals, minimizing the risk of errors in emission type, factor, or account selection.
