Authenticating with OAuth

As part of the configuration of the print server and file download, the Continia Document Output Service must be authenticated and thereby authorized to communicate with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. One way to do so is using the OAuth protocol, as described in this article.

Note

You must also authenticate the service if you use the setup assistant to configure the print server and/or file download.

To authenticate the Document Output Service in Business Central using OAuth, follow these steps:

  1. Follow the guide in Setting up OAuth for Document Output Service to create an Azure app registration and obtain a tenant ID, a client ID, and a client secret.

    Note

The guide will also help you to add the app to the Microsoft Entra Applications list in Business Central and to assign necessary permissions.

  2. In the Service Manager, on the Add web service page for either the print server or file download, depending on which of these you're setting up – or on the Webservice setup assistant page for the setup assistant – go to Credentials.
  3. Select OAuth details to open the corresponding page.
  4. Enter the tenant ID, client ID, and client secret that you obtained in step 1 above.
  5. Select Test configuration to check if an access token can be generated.

    Note

If no success message is displayed, check if the values you entered are correct, and if your app in Azure is configured in accordance with the guide (for example, if permissions have been granted).

  6. When a message informs you that an access token has been successfully generated, select Save to complete the authentication process and close the page.

The Document Output Service has now been authenticated in Business Central using OAuth. Return to the setup guide from which you were referred to this article, and continue from the relevant step:
